General FAQs
How does the Prevent Custom Pro smart mouthguard (iMG) work?
1) Charge: Place your iMG in your charging case (included) and plug in using the charging cord (included) for 60–90 minutes to get 6–8 hours of battery life.
2) Connect: Once charged, connect to the iMG to your Bluetooth enabled device by opening the iOS app near the iMG.
3) Go Play!
4) Sync: After use, place iMG in charging case and plug in to begin recharge process. Open iOS app with Bluetooth enabled in proximity to sync recent usage data.
What does the Prevent Custom Pro smart mouthguard (iMG) track?
- While in use, the iMG continuously monitors and stores head acceleration events (HAEs).
- The iMG measures key metrics including impact location and magnitude, as well as date and time of each impact.
- Data is transmitted in real time via Bluetooth to the iOS app.
- If an impact exceeds a pre-set threshold, the iMG’s embedded LED will illuminate red and a push notification with player and impact details will appear in the iOS app.
What happens to the data?
Users own their own head impact data. Data will be made available to team personnel and Prevent Biometrics for research purposes only. All player data will remain confidential unlessyou give Prevent permission to disclose it. To protect user privacy, Prevent will not personally identify individuals in any external reports or publications. Any research efforts will utilize aggregated, de-identified user data.
How long will the iMG last?
Prevent iMGs are manufactured to last one full season or more, depending on care and growth. Players who undergo significant dental changes may require a new scan and mouthguard.
What support resources come with the purchase of a Prevent iMG?
Onboarding and technical support from Prevent’s internal domestic support staff is included with every purchase. All users will have access to Prevent’s robust help center resource library.
